TOP 3 TRACKS TO TAKE YOUR MAVERICK X3 FOR A SPIN

90 Mile Beach Trail

Missing the beach? We’ve got something right up your alley. 90 Mile Beach is a designated state highway that allows you to drive on the beach! This trail is a 2-hour ride starting at Kaitaia, North Land, that will give you the chance to see wildlife and breathtaking views. It’s a perfect spot for those looking for an easy to moderate route to take and if you fancy having a whole beach to yourself. You’ll even be able to spot wild horses and bodyboard down the sand dunes. While planning your trip we recommend checking for low tides.

Lake Sumner Forest Park

If you’re looking for somewhere to get away from the city life for a weekend, check out Lake Sumner. To get there, turn off SH7 at Waikari and follow the road to Hawarden where you will find Lake Sumner Road (leading to the start of your 4-hour journey at Lake Taylor). It’s a muddy and rocky track with up and down hills but it’s nothing that your Maverick X3 can’t handle. When you’ve reached your destination you’ll even be able to camp overnight!

Takapari Road

Looking for something more challenging? If you’re looking for something more advanced we have just the right place for you. Takapari Road is the ultimate destination in Manawatu with views of both sides of the North Island. Driving with views this good will be pretty hard to beat, you could easily spend days here. Start your journey at the bottom of Takapari Rd where you’ll ride up a gravel road for 11km till you reach A-Frame Hut, further along will be 6km to the road-end. It’s a steep and rough road with chilly weather conditions so pack warm and get ready to show off what your Maverick X3 is made of!
